How to Write Part 1 (edited)

Some people write from their brain

Some people write from their heart

Some people write from their social

Some people tear them apart.

Some of those take from the city

Some of those take from the woods

Some of those take from friends

Some of those don’t say what they should.

A few write what they see

A few write what they touch

A few write what they feel

A few separate not so much.

Some say it’s the fame

When rhyming’s their form

And even if not

Others prefer to be torn.

For the capabilities shouldn’t be dictated

By what is already read or said

Based upon past experiences of yesterday

Instead of what is presently in front of them.

My Ideas Keep Me Alive: a poem from “Light”

Inspiration being a stitch in the head,
nagging and nagging
the pragmatic everyday life I try to exist in.
I just give up.

I sell myself, in whole,
to my ideas that bring me life.
My ideas bring me life.
My ideas are the oxygen, water, and protein
keeping me alive.

Unpragmatic, purely platonic.
Don’t ask how I am today,
I am working.
Yes, perhaps alone,
but working,
so not alone live I.
My ideas keep me alive

Row

See the pond,

The shimmering pond,

Past the sign that says no entry.

See the light,

The blinking light,

Leading the puddle-paved way.

Follow the geese

Who hear past the cannons.

Follow them past their stay.

Take your boat

Go past the sign

The light shines for no one but you.

Follow the geese,

they know the way,

In the morning, a minute past two.

Be seen by no one,

But if you do,

Keep rowing forever past two.

No one knows the way,

No one sees how,

The only one that knows is you.

Dreamer

A vision,

a thought,

something that you devote your whole life to,

and sticking with it through thick and thin,

no matter what anyone else says,

in happiness and sadness,

anger and distress,

and not changing it in times of war,

and in times of peace.

Staying true to yourself no matter the circumstances,

and rising in your dream with ever growing confidence.

Dada Revolution

What you bring to the art

Is more important than what I show you.

I’d rather make you decide what it means

For you, and stay out of that process.

For art is in the interpretation

Not in the art itself,

It is in the person.

Solitary Content

Most precious place to ever be
An escape from noise and people
With oceans and white waterfalls
A place to find pure ecstasy

Sitting out on a deck
And looking out
Just miles of nature
To wonder
To ponder
It isn’t hard to smell
The miles of forest ahead
Acres of leaves and three hundred foot trees
Stretch the mind to its limits

Happiness inside
Is all to feel
All you have to do
Is think
And travel to the back of your head.

Rambled Words

Take a word
And say it ten times.
Each time concentrating more and more
On each annunciated syllable.
Say it ten more times, concentrating even harder on each letter.
Do it until the validity of the word doesn’t even make sense
And the word is no longer a word to you…
Until the next time you use it.

In Lakes and Rain

Dried up in the sun
Spoken for by everyone
But I speak of my own importance

So quiet
That when I am outspoken
I am a disturbance.
But will always be resting in my journeys end

Still despite eloquence and beauty
I am known for my disturbances
And proudly so
Just to be known
As a disturbance

Still I rise and fall
Picking one spot to land and focus on
My own area of expertise

Just to start the cycle over
To be another disturbance
But looked upon amazingly when quiet

For without the disturbances I wouldn’t be there
To gaze upon

It is those disturbances
That make me amazingly quiet
And free flowing

I am as subtle as water
In lakes and rain

Happilly Short

Anything I ask
Is just to get better.
I want to improve
I need to do better.
So when every one else asks for a perfect
I shall ask for just slightly short.
Just one thing to fix
For there is always one.
Perfection doesn’t exist in my heart
And the only way to prove myself
Is to improve myself
One failure at a time.
So I ask not for a 100
But I just shy 98.

Place of Unconscious

When people call my attention
While spacing out

It is true
I am not there

Escaped to my world in the back of my mind
Free-falling for miles
In the sky
Landing safely in a field
Beside white waterfalls

I visit there often
To escape my fate

Right before an accident
During a headache

Escaping reality
I often do
Escaping what I know is true
To a world where I
And I alone control what happens
